Martin Söffge, born 1959, completed training to become an assistant tax accountant after his Abitur [high school leaving diploma] and subsequently studied business administration at the University of Cologne. After his examinations, he switched to the accountancy firm KPMG Peat Marwick Treuhand GmbH, Düsseldorf.

During this time, Martin Söffge acquired the qualifications of tax consultant and auditor and, in this capacity, for the first time gained experience with TRIMET, a long-term client of the consultancy firm.

In 1993, Martin Söffge moved from KPMG to the REWE Group and was initially responsible for corporate controlling there. In 1999, he became commercial manager of the REWE subsidiary toom BauMarkt, which most recently had a turnover of €1.8 million and approximately 14,000 employees. Parallel to this, he was responsible for various reorganization projects for REWE and, in mid 2008, additionally became commercial manager of REWE Unterhaltungselektronik GmbH.

Martin Söffge was appointed to the Board of Management of TRIMET ALUMINIUM AG on December 1, 2009; he is responsible for the finance department.
