Dr. Thomas Ludwig

After studying mathematics and business administration in Göttingen, Glasgow and Bonn and his doctorate in business administration, Dr Thomas Ludwig began his career in 1977 with the then Klöckner-Werke AG.

Dr Thomas Ludwig worked there until 1984, where his final position was Head of Materials Management for the smelting plants. Subsequently, he became Head of the Aluminium Division with a legal predecessor of Klöckner & Co Alt.

After holding various executive positions, Dr. Thomas Ludwig was appointed board member of Klöckner & Co Alt in 1991 for the divisions of raw materials, environmental technology and mobile constructions. In 1995, Dr Thomas Ludwig joined the then Thyssen group, ThyssenKrupp group as of 1999, where he was appointed Chairman of the Management of Thyssen Klöckner Recycling GmbH and, at the same time, board member of Thyssen Handelsunion AG. In 2001, became Chairman of the Board of ThyssenKrupp Serv AG. In November 2003, Dr Thomas Ludwig was appointed CEO of Klöckner & Co Alt.

From April 2005 – June 2006, Dr Thomas Ludwig was Chairman of the Managing Board of Klöckner & Co GmbH. Since June 2006, Dr Thomas Ludwig has been CEO of Klöckner & Co AG.
