The career of Thomas Reuter, born 1958, started with an apprenticeship as industrial clerk with Böhler AG in Düsseldorf. For the stainless and tool steel producer, Mr Reuther subsequently became responsible for the acquisition of raw materals, such as alloyed scrap metals, alloys, and master alloys. While working full time, he attended evening classes to acquire a degree in business administration.

In 1989, he left Böhler AG and joined the recycling division of the VAW (then: Vereinigte Alumiumwerke, now: Norsk Hydro) in Grevenbroich. There, he was soon responsible for the marketing of casting alloys and metal management.

In 2000, he joined what is now TRIMET ALUMINIUM AG. At TRIMET, he has been responsible for the recycling plants in Gelsenkirchen and Harzgerode and for the scrap metal trade since 2001. In addition to these activities, he also assumed the management of the TRIMET automotive plants in Harzgerode and Sömmerda in July 2008. Since 1 March 2009, Reuther has been a member of the Board of Management of TRIMET ALUMINIUM AG.
