Heinz-Peter Schlüter

Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Heinz-Peter Schlüter, born in 1949, started his career with an apprenticeship as a wholesale and international trade specialist at W&O Bergmann. When his apprenticeship was completed, he work as a metal trader for the company. After holding company positions in Hamburg, London, and Paris, he assumed the sole responsibility for the Trade department. In 1982, he joined the General Management of W&O Bergmann, where he remained a member until 1985.

In 1985, Mr. Schlüter founded Trimet Metallhandelsgesellschaft, which became TRIMET ALUMINIUM AG in 2002, as the sole owner. Initially active in the aluminium trade, the company expanded its business activities to further areas of business in the aluminium industry in 1993.

In 1993, Mr. Schlüter took over a resmelting works in Gelsenkirchen and an aluminium smelter with connected foundry in Essen in 1994. In 2001, he also acquired an additional recycling plant in Harzgerode (Saxony-Anhalt) and two diecasting foundries in Harzgerode und Sömmerda (Thuringia). The last expansion took place in 2006 when Mr. Schlüter took over the an aluminium smelter in Hamburg, which had been closed by the previous owners. On 1 March 2009, he switched from his position of the Chairman of the Board of Management to the Supervisory Board, of which he also became the Chairman. He is also the sole member of the Board of Management of the parent company, TRIMET AG.

With a total production of more than 450,000 tons of aluminium, TRIMET ALUMINIUM AG, Essen, is Germany's largest aluminium producer with about 1,700 employees.
